Moles are common skin growths, and most people have had them since birth. They continue to develop during our lifetime due to genetics and UV exposure. But, a “normal” mole can hide much more. A cancerous mole, melanoma, can arise from a previously “normal” mole or as a new growth on the skin. Therefore, if you have a lot of moles on your body, our advice is to have them examined once a year.
What is dermatoscopy?
Dermatoscope is a lighted magnifier used to look at moles and growths on the skin surface and subsurface.
A dermatoscopy is essential to examine moles accurately and decide on treatment or their removal if indicated.
